Cost of Diabetes

According to the CDC, the estimated diabetes cost in the United State in 2007 was $116 billion.  Indirect costs which include disability, work loss and premature death were $58 billion.

 

In Georgia, the cost of diabetes due to medical care, lost productivity, and premature death is over $4 billion per year.

 

The cost of diabetes medical care is approximately $11,744 per year for a person with diabetes, compared with $5,095 for a person without diabetes.
