Carol Johnson Davis, Executive Director

Carol Johnson Davis serves as executive director for the Diabetes Association of Atlanta. Her role is to ensure the association’s mission is accomplished through improving the quality of life for people with diabetes through education, screening and medical assistance in a caring, responsive way. Davis received her undergraduate degree in Economics from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and her juris doctor from North Carolina Central University School of Law. Additionally, she has received training as a mediator. Mrs. Davis is active in numerous civic organizations. She serves on the board of the Youth Ensemble of Atlanta and is a member of Hoosier Memorial United Methodist Church and Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. Mrs. Davis is married to Dr. Edward L. Davis, Dean of the Business School at Clark Atlanta University. They have one son Brian. Brian was diagnosed with diabetes at the age of 10. The Davis family has been extensively involved in the study of the management for diabetes and is committed to the cure and the improved quality of life for individuals with similar conditions.

 

 

Katie Mick, MS, RD, LD, Education Coordinator

Katie Mick is a registered dietitian, passionate about empowering people towards positive change.  She received her Bachelor’s degree in Dietetics from the University of Georgia and completed her dietetic internship and Master’s degree through the Georgia State University Coordinated Program.  Ms. Mick is currently the Diabetes Education Coordinator for the Diabetes Association of Atlanta.  Her position involves speaking to businesses, churches, and schools about diabetes prevention and self-management, as well as coordinating diabetes education classes.  Not exclusive to those with diabetes, Ms. Mick is available for nutrition counseling and Medical Nutrition Therapy for anyone in need.

 

 

 

 

Alyssa Ebbert, Screening Coordinator

Alyssa serves as the Diabetes Association of Atlanta screening coordinator.  In this role she trains screening technicians to perform screenings throughout DAA’s 13 county service area. Alyssa coordinates and attends corporate and community events providing glucose screenings and diabetes awareness education.  When in the office Alyssa assists in coordinating the Medical Assistance Program and other Diabetes Association of Atlanta events. Alyssa has worked in the healthcare industry for 11 years.

 

 

 

 

 
Karla Daniels, Development Contractor

Karla Daniels serves as the Development Contractor for the Diabetes Association of Atlanta. Her duties include fundraising, event planning and grant writing activities to support the programmatic work of the organization. Her non profit career has included working at CARE USA, Rollins School of Public Health at Emory University and currently, the Diabetes Association of Atlanta, Inc. She is a graduate of Emory University where she earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in History and a minor in English. She also attended Emory’s Teacher Preparation Program for Secondary Education where she student taught at Cross Keys High School and Shiloh Middle School. Karla has worked in Sales and Marketing for KPMG, United Health Care, and Resurgent’s Risk Management. For the past nine years she has established a career in the non profit industry in the areas of fundraising, event planning and grant writing.
